- What happens when a teacher calls in sick? — Do ratios stay the same or does one teacher cover two rooms?
- What training do your teachers have beyond the state minimum? — CDA, ECE degree, Infant-Toddler specialization are all positives.
- What was your staff turnover rate last year? — Under 20% is excellent. Over 40% is a warning sign.
About Safety and Health
- Can I see your last inspection report? High-quality centers have it ready and share it willingly.
- How do you handle a child who won't stop crying? — Listen for empathy vs frustration.
- What is your sick child policy? — Clear exclusion criteria protect all children.
- Who has access to the building during the day? — Secure entry is non-negotiable.
- What is your safe sleep policy for infants? — Should be back-to-sleep, no blankets or positioners.
About Curriculum and Daily Life
